My latest survey indicates that Qualcomm has stopped developing Intel 20A chips. But other new reports indicate that Samsung’s SoCs for the Galaxy S24 series won’t be 3nm.įirst of all, we have Ming-Chi Kuo writing on Medium that Qualcomm has stopped developing Intel 20A (2nm) chips: Qualcomm would certainly be one of the players interested in access to the latest chip tech. The Information could be wrong, and TSMC might sell 3nm capacity to other chipmakers. And I can’t wait to see what the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max do in battery tests. The most important one will be battery life gains. ![]() One is faster performance, although that might be imperceptible compared to 2023 devices. That translates to two immediate advantages over Android. An SoC that nobody else can match right now. With that in mind, the A17 Bionic becomes a huge advantage for the iPhone 15 Pro models. What I didn’t see coming was Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro “sweetheart deal” and what it would mean for the industry. Great battery life is a feature I now take for granted on my iPhone 14 Pro. That could lead to big battery life improvements on iPhone 15 Pro. Smartphones will get faster, but we might not even notice anymore.īut what the A17 Bionic can bring to the iPhone 15, thanks to that new 3nm process, is even better efficiency. Once the first A17 Bionic rumors dropped, I told you we’ve reached a point where I don’t care as much about performance gains. But later, I realized the iPhone 14 Pro’s battery life was enough to make this more expensive model worthwhile. I said the iPhone 14 would have been great for my needs. The Pros rock the A16 Bionic chip, which is faster and more efficient than the A15 powering the regular iPhone 14 models. But they won’t be able to touch the new iPhone 15 Pros.Ībout a year ago, I said I didn’t really need the iPhone 14 Pro I had just purchased. The Galaxy S24 Ultra and all the Android flagships will feature Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 8 series chip. Regardless of the outcome, Apple will not be forced to allow Fortnite back to the App Store.Just when I thought the SoC wars were plateauing, it appears that Apple made another move that rivals can’t replicate. The conclusion to the saga will be kicked out further if the Supreme Court does decide to take on the case. Rejecting the appeal would kick back the decision to the 9th Circuit which already ruled in Epic’s favor. The next move to watch is whether or not the Supreme Court agrees to hear Apple’s case. ![]() Still, the ultimate fate of the App Store remains to be determined. No such enforcement will happen, however, as the Supreme Court has declined to grant Epic’s wish. Unable to accept a win and wait, Epic accused the court of being “far too lenient” on Apple and asked the Supreme Court to enforce the ruling go into effect. If victorious, Apple would be forced to allow developers to redirect users to alternative payment systems.Īpple appealed the ruling by the 9th Circuit, however, which put a pause on enforcing the ruling that was in Epic’s favor. Basically, Epic Games wants to sell V-bucks on the iPhone without Apple taking a cut of the revenue. However, Apple has walked away with a small victory today.Įpic Games, the studio behind Fornite, recently scored a victory in the 9th Circuit court that would force Apple to shake up the state of its App Store. Apple is still awaiting the fate of whether or not the Supreme Court will take up its appeal in the Epic Games trial.
